And another beautiful Seattle view

I've been getting sentimental about Seattle lately as I try to imagine where I'll be this time next year . . .

Vancouver, Canada

Yes, apparently in Washington in you have to say "Vancouver, Canada" because if you just say "Vancouver" everyone assumes you're talking about the city next to Portland.  No one outside of Washington even knows there's another Vancouver... I personally think it's part of Washington pride to make you specify if you're talking about Canada.
Anyway, Vancouver is only 3 hours north and after all this time living in Seattle my friends and I still had not yet visited!  So we set out for what was sure to be a great trip.  I was extremely excited because I worked long hours Mon. - Thurs. so that I could finally go in the early car (our other trips this summer I've always had to work a full day on Friday, and never could meet everyone else until late at night).
The trip began with getting Nick across the border without a passport (risky, Nick...risky), followed by Nandos, Capilano Suspension Bridge, and 5-pin bowling.  Band of Horses were playing that same weekend so of course I could not pass that up and let me tell you, they put on an amazing (and LOUD) show...definitely up there in my top 3.  We ended the trip with poutine, happening upon a game of cricket, and a stroll around Stanley Park.  In all of our spare time at dinner or while driving or pretty much any other moment, we were all taking the Enneagram personality test and thoroughly reading the book because it's scary how accurately it can pin you (if you're curious, I'm a Helper with an Adventurer wing).

Work Outing

I would like to thank my fellow intern, Max, for 1) letting me change his car tire and 2) taking me out on my first ever sailing trip (how have I lived in Seattle this long and not yet been sailing??).  It was wonderful.

Not a prodigy but it's fun to pretend

Exciting news: I am learning the guitar.  Bought my own guitar today.  This is super exciting.
Please appreciate this super artsy photo featuring the dumpster.

Our Classic PNW

The weekend where the adventure literally never ended.
It began with heading east.  One of the members of our bishopric has a house in Eastern Washington and invited our ward over to watch the meteor shower that was supposed to happen that night.
We camped out under the stars.  Luckily I woke up around 3 am and was able to actually see the meteor shower.
We woke up and a small group of us hiked Bandera Mountain.  Gosh, the boys killed me...I could not keep up!  Seriously, I swear we hiked straight up the mountain.  It was very tiring but lots of fun.
Next, we headed to Bellevue to eat lunch and meet our ward for our temple trip.  Between lunch and the temple, we had a little extra time so a few of us stopped to take a nap in a park (doesn't that sound so nice? It was.)
Post-temple, Tina, Gavin, and I (did I mention that Gavin was visiting this weekend??) headed to Alki to show Gavin the best view of Seattle.
Ya, it was a great weekend.

This view of Mount Rainier made the whole hike worth it.

Caaarrrlllllll!

Guess what, everyone?  She is officially off the market.

The best parts of a best friend's wedding are 1) having all of your best friends in one place together and 2) to be one of the go-to gals.  From getting to give the bouquet to her before she greeted everyone outside the temple, to helping make sure no kids ruined the guest book, to getting to wear one of the coordinating dresses and hold the pretty flowers all night, to not having to wait in the line, to letting the bride know if the dancing made her too sweaty, to seeing your best friend the happiest she has ever been.  It was such a fun and beautiful night.  Congrats Carly and Jeff!

1st Annual Newport Beach Adair Family Reunion

So, long title....but I felt it was all important, so there it is.

Grandpa's cancer motivated the parents to plan that trip they had all been wanting to happen at some point or another.  And we had every single person on the Adair side all together.  It was perfect.

Favorite moments:

  • Boogie boarding with the Cooper, Lucy, and Simone
  • Reading on the beach with Grandpa and discussing our different books
  • Watching everyone run around playing before family photos
  • Taking up almost the entire Ruby's diner
  • Late night walk for donuts with Mom and the aunts
  • Late night bike rides with the cousins
  • Night football game with the cousins on the sand
  • Throwing Cheetos on our dads' whipped cream covered faces
  • Riding a dolphin
Adorable Livy.
