Birthday Weekend

Wow.  I'm 19, now.  You know, being 19...the last year of being a teenager ever in my whole entire life and I will never go back...it seems like I should feel significantly older than 18.  But really, what more happens when you turn 19?  I can already order off of infomercials and sign my own waivers, but I can't get a hotel room or rent a car yet.  I'm still a teenager, but in college and an adult at the same time.  19 is kind of an in between number.  And now I'm just rambling on as I try to avoid doing my homework, yet still feel productive.  I think you get the point.
Anyways, despite the lack of significance that the age 19 brings, I still had such a fun birthday weekend!  Everyone made it special, both in Washington and in Utah!  I received several packages, letters, and phone calls and I felt like everyone in the dorm knew it was my birthday...it was so much fun :D  Friday night was college night at the Mariner's game, so Sara, Lindsey, and I all hung out together there.  Mariners won!!  Saturday night all my friends and I went to Bellevue to CPK for dinner.  I just loved spending the night with a big group of friends hanging out and having fun... it was the perfect birthday!
My current roommate, Chen, and my future roommate, Sara!
"Look guys!  I'm taller than Nick!"
Em-m-ma :)
The whole dinner crew! (Missing Emma...she's taking the picture.)
A little birthday Facetiming :)

Because of Him

He lives.  And because He lives, you you and you and she and he and they and we all will live again.  Because He lives, death has no sting.  The grave no victory.  We can start again and again and again.  Because of Him, guilt becomes peace.  Regret becomes relief.  Despair becomes hope.  Because of Him, we have second chances, clean slates, new beginnings.  There is no such thing as the end because of Him.

Watch this video.  And as you do, think of all the hard things you are going through or have gone through or might go through.  And then stop.  And think...all of that is okay.  Because, guess what?  Christ went through all of that first.  He walked alone first.  He wept first.  He was accused and tormented first.  And amongst all the hardships and trials he faced, He also taught and loved and served.  And He did it all because of YOU.  He loves YOU.  You are so important to him, that He was willing to suffer for your sins, and not only your sins, but also your sorrows and your pains and your confusion and your heartbreak.  And then he died for you, for me, for all of us.  But, he arose from the dead.  And because He was resurrected, we too will live again!  Isn't that the best news you have ever heard??  There IS a point to all of this!  And when I know that I will live again, I can't help but want and desire to make this life I'm living now the best and the happiest I can make it, to show Him that his atonement wasn't in vain.  When I mess up or fall short, I can repent and I can try again.  And when I am sad or frustrated or just having a hard time, I can turn to Christ and ask for help and guidance and comfort and He will run to my side.  He will lead the way to show us where to turn.  He will walk next to us to keep us company and give us comfort and advice.  And when we fall down and feel that we can't walk any further, He will pick us up and carry us until we can continue on.  I know that Jesus Christ died and lived again.  I know this because of the happiness and peace that I feel when I act on this knowledge.  And I have a testimony of the truth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  I encourage you to go to lds.org or mormon.org, to read the Book of Mormon, to ask me questions, to talk to the missionaries, or to just pray and talk to God and allow Him into your life.  I tell you this because I am HAPPY.  And I am not just content or having fun or laughing sometimes, but I am HAPPY through and through.  A kind of happiness that only the assurance and answers and the incredible love that I feel from God brings to me.  And I want YOU to be this happy and feel this love too.  It's never too late to turn to and follow Christ.  Just try.  See how you feel.  I promise, you can and you will feel the spirit and you will feel this happiness too.

{ HAPPY EASTER! }

WOAH SUPER COOL LUNAR ECLIPSE

Okay, so maybe the moon is supposed to be orange, not black.  And maybe it's supposed to be a moon, not an Oreo.  But sometimes in Seattle, an Oreo is as close as you're going to get to a moon.  But we still tried!  But alas, the clouds were covering the sky and there was no moon to be seen.  On the bright side, it gave us an excuse to hang out with our friends at midnight by the waterfront :D

Post-Olympic Withdrawals?

Institute's Spring quarter opening social? ....The Spring Olympics!
It was a night full of fun competition including human curling (pushing people in office chairs), speed skating (sliding in socks), synchronized doughnut eating, and other "Olympic" sports!  And guess who is a silver medalist??  That's right, all my hard work and practice finally paid off.... I'd like to thank my mom and my dad and my brothers and my coaches and all my friends and anyone else that I may have missed for helping me get to where I am today.
Intense speed skating.
Go team Madagascar! (missing Kyler and Andrew)
