This. Is. College.

We went to a foam party.  What the heck is a foam party, you ask?  Well, pretty much foam machines pour out tons and tons of soapy foam and you dance around in it.  I was completely covered and soaked in foam and soap.  At one point you'd be on the outskirts of the tent and be standing in knee-high foam, but the next minute you'd be right in the middle with the foam just building up over your shoulders and over your head and you'd run for dear life to save your poor eyes, but then laugh so hard and run right back in.

We cheered as loud as ever in the torrential rain storm.  Despite the fact that I thought I was all prepared and geared up in my Seattle weather clothes, I was completely drenched before the first half.  But, we had fun and had quite the experience!  Plus UW beat Arizona, so... Go! Huskies!

We ordered pizza at 4:30 am.

Dawg Daze

This week everyone moved in.  Gone are the days when I ruled the campus by being in EFS.  Now everyone is here...and when I say everyone, I mean everyone.  There are so many kids!!  I had gotten so used to being one of the few students on campus and not having any sophomores, juniors, or seniors around.  So now I am back to being the baby of campus.  But, now it's officially official.  I've gone to my first real college classes.  200 students and all.  For the last month I took an all freshman seminar class with only 25 students in it and let me tell you, real college is quite different. . .

But I love it!  Classes started yesterday and the days leading up have been filled with lots of fun welcome activities....from Midnight Carnival, to the comedy show, to the football game, to the free concerts, to the activities fair, to the Mariners game, and on and on and on.  College is pretty great.
Midnight Carnival
Oh, did I mention we beat Idaho State 56-0?  Ya, it was pretty awesome.
That awkward moment when Lily hits you with...a tree?
The Krew.
James, Javi, Jessie, and Kennedy.
I touched a hedgehog!!!
Fall Fling?  4 free concerts right on campus.
Wow...look at all those people.
Go Mariners!

A girl on the bus threw up...

Needless to say, the ride home was pretty long hanging like that.

SISTER MATESEN

Today my best friend received her mission call!  I am so proud of her :)  The people of Oaxaca, Mexico don't even know how lucky they are going to be to have Sister Matesen.  Wow, Ru, I can't believe in just a few short months you're going to be out there serving a mission...you are going to be the most amazing missionary!  I'm so happy I could "be there" to watch you open your call today!

Check out how Ru decided to serve a mission here.

HOME COOKED

Today I helped my friend, Josh, move into his new apartment down the street (since EFS is ending a lot of people have had to move out into other dorms or apartments).  And, woah watch out, he has a kitchen.  I haven't stood in a kitchen since moving here...  A house warming party was in order.  So we walked 12 blocks to the nearest Safeway and bought the classic easiest-to-make meal items.  Not wanting to carry the heavy box of groceries all the way back down to his apartment (we brought our own small moving box since most stores in Seattle charge extra for bags--go green or go home), we just happened to come upon a shopping cart that we gladly made use of.  But then we realized, in order to cook we would need things like pots and pans and cooking sheets and wooden spoons.  So after dropping the food off, we caught a bus downtown to the nearest Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
We started making garlic breadsticks, pasta, tomato sauce, and a salad, Sam, Nick, and Lily came over, Sam made guacamole, and oh did I love cooking in a real kitchen instead of using the lounge microwave and my room's mini fridge.
I'd say the house warming party was a success.  We ate food.  We played Catch-Phrase.  What more do you need?
(We all have been very much into playing games every night....for hours we'll play Egyptian Rat Screw, Kemps, President, Curses, Catch-Phrase, etc etc etc.  Who doesn't love game night every night?)

Yay for my first home cooked meal in nearly a month!

So, I guess it's a thing now.

Emma and I have taken up the hobby of imitating fish faces.  I'd say we're getting pretty good at it.

Out on the town

Buses downtown, Pike's Place, exploring, Mariner's game, ghost hunters, Pioneer Square, arcade, pasta, balsamic, birthday, farmer's market, tomatoes, flowers, ice cream, soccer, frisbee, night games, movie nights, card games, Husky rock, ferris wheel, the gum wall, sun, up the Ave.
I love having a farmer's market right up the street...I bought myself a box of tomatoes and they are delicious :)
